iOS 12® Operating System: What You Need to Know

The iOS 12 operating system will be the twelfth major release of the mobile operating system. Announced at Apple Inc.'s® Worldwide Developers Conference in early June 2018, its final version will be released in September 2018. Based on the information that has been released, below is what Apple device users need to know in terms of changes, improvements, etc. Keep in mind that nothing is guaranteed until the final release.
  1. Group FaceTime® calls

With the new update, you will be able to make FaceTime calls with multiple people at the same time. No matter how far away you are over the holidays or on a special birthday, you never have to feel separated from family and friends again! Easily FaceTime multiple people at the same time with the front-facing camera.
  1. Memoji

If you haven't heard about memojis, you are seriously missing out! The iPhone X® device introduced animojis, which are digital animal cartoons that are designed to resemble you and your expressions. However, the iOS 12 operating system allows you to create memojis. So, instead of being limited to animals, robots or ghosts, you can now create a MEmoji that looks just like you!
  1. Automatic updates feature

Do you often forget to update your Apple device? You will never need to remember to update your phone or check for updates; the iOS 12 operating system will set up your phone to automatically update.
  1. Bedtime and Downtime Modes

Our Apple devices help us run our lives. However, because we rely on our devices for work, recreation and communication, it can be very difficult to disconnect and rest our eyes. The new update has several new features that encourage self-care and time away from the screen. The new Bedtime feature allows you to block all notifications from turning your phone's backlight on, and notifications will not appear on your lock screen either. This is designed to help users from seeing notifications when you check the time. You can also opt to manually turn on the Do Not Disturb (DND) feature which will prohibit interruptions for any set time, current location or any other scheduled times or places.
  1. Improved Notification Management

On the other side of the spectrum, missing an important notification should never be a fear of yours again. With the new and improved notification management feature, notifications from the same app will stack instead of the show as a long list.
  1. Track Screen Time

Are you curious about how much time you spend on your screen? How about how much time you spend using certain apps or features? You can now track your screen time as well as use for your device and even family devices. We're pretty sure we know a few parents who will be using this.
  1. Battery Breakdown

Do you have trouble keeping your phone charged or have a habit of wasting battery life? Consistently low battery life may not reflect a problem with your device's battery. With the new update, you can now find out how much battery life you spend on varied features and applications.
  1. Improved Siri® Virtual Assistant

Just when you thought the Siri feature could do it all, the iOS 12 operating system has found a new way of expediting Siri services and making it easy to complete daily tasks, and it is called Shortcuts. Shortcuts allow you to send a text message to a specific contact or play a favorite podcast with one single command.
